Made by people with deafness and hearing loss for those coming after us

Our experiences vary hugely. Some us can hear the birds in trees, others notice how the leaves flutter when they bustle in the flowers. Some of us were born with hearing loss and imagine the invisible frequencies. Some of us pick up hearing loss along the way and remember sounds from before. For some of us, the aural world grows more silent as time goes by. And for others, it's the world of touch that's the most vivid.

Find others and learn from similar experiences

Many of us have said finding people with overlapping experiences were (and are) magical moments. Some children, have grown up being the only the deaf, never know this experience till much later. We hope some sense of that magical moments comes across here in the guide, till we can help encourage them more often.

The are incredible people and organisations who do advocacy out in the hearing world, and many others who advise on medical care. Here we'll have little to say on those, to focus more on sharing common experiences of different Deaf and hearing-loss communities. Many of found themselves an individual patient of great medical help over many decades, but without meeting one of the many Deaf communities.

We hope you find what you need, anywhere

If all things you've found here and elsewhere doesn't help you, we really hope something else does soon! When it does, let us know and we can update the sign posts for those coming after us.
